Harmon's are currently undergoing a total Lean Manufacturing program. This is being done in conjunction with the West of England Aerospace Consortium, SMMT Industry Forum and SBAC.
Work commenced on the 14th February 2005 and will be ongoing until the end of the year. During this time, study groups have totally remodelled the machine shop; every single machine has been moved and cellular manufacturing cells have been set up.
Greater efficiency throughout the facility is being achieved. Similar studies in office and other production areas are in progress, examining and (where required) improving all aspects of the business.
The directors are aware that to compete with the ever growing foreign competition, UK companies must remove waste and keep improving and not get complacent.
